Joint STAMP conference and 9th ICMAT International GMC Summer School on Symplectic Geometry, Classical Mechanics and Interactions with Spectral Theory

Start: 2015 July 29
End: 2015 August 3

Location: Madrid, Spain

Welcome to the Joint Stamp conference and  9th ICMAT International Summer School on Geometry, Mechanics and Control organised by the GMC network.

The format of this year edition is different because it is a joint activity with the STAMP program at ICMAT on Spectral Theory and Mathematical Physics. That is why the topics of this summer school focus on Symplectic Geometry, Classical Mechanics and Interactions with Spectral Theory.

The school is oriented to young researchers, Ph.D. and postdoctoral students in Mathematics, Physics and Engineering, in particular those interested in symplectic geometry and mathematical physics. This activity consists of three courses (4 hours 30 minutes each) and around ten talks (40 minutes each) by invited guests. The courses will present an up-to-date view of some fundamental issues in the above-mentioned areas and bring to the participants attention some open problems, in particular, problems related to applications. The confirmed courses this year are:

  • Florin Diacu (Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Victoria, Canada): The N-body problem in spaces of constant curvature.
  • Chris Woodward (Department of Mathematics, Rutgers University, USA).
  • Minicourse 3. To be confirmed.

The confirmed invited speakers for the talks are:

  • María Barbero, Departamento de Matemáticas, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid-ICMAT, Spain.
  • Luis García Naranjo, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Mexico.
  • David Iglesias, Departamento de Matemáticas, Estadística e Investigación Operativa, Universidad de La Laguna, Spain.
  • Yohann Le Floch, Tel Aviv University, Israel.
  • Melvin Leok, Department of Mathematics, University of California, San Diego, USA.
  • Steve Zelditch, Department of Mathematics, Northwestern University, USA.

This school is an activity within the ICMAT Severo Ochoa Excellence Program.
